Our young horses spend their first several
years on open pasture, developing strength,
confidence, and proper equine socialization
skills.  Since the Lusitano horse matures at
about 7 years, we typically start our riding
horses under saddle at 4 to 5 years of age.
They soon become comfortable working
cattle and being ridden in wide open spaces,
in addition to the usual round pen and
arena schooling. With this solid foundation,
our horses are prepared to pursue the riding
discipline of your choice - Doma Vaquera,
classical equitation or dressage, bloodless
bullfighting, and others.

Varino  2002 Grey Lusitano Gelding  (Damasco  x Luna)

15/1 hh.  This is a full brother to Tirol, who is competing so successfully in dressage.  This
sensitive, athletic gelding has an incredible conformation and correspondingly beautiful
movement.  He also has substantial bone and large, perfect feet.  Varino has very nice ground
manners, a
few peaceful, preliminary rides on him, and will begin regular training soon....
Luna  1993 Heterozygous-grey Lusitano Mare   (Triunfo x Chuva)

15/1 hh.  This 1/2 Andrade, 1/4 Veiga mare is heterozygous-grey and has thrown solid black and
bay, in addition to grey.  She's an excellent broodmare - settles easily, carries to term, and milks
heavily.   She was broke to ride at 3 years old, but has been a broodmare for the past 11 years.  She
augments the already beautiful movement of Damasco, and gives her foals substantial  muscle
and bone.  We wouldn't let her go, except that we have a lovely, bay filly out of her, ready to breed.
